Back at the theater, standing in line to await entrance, we watch an old man dressed as a clown making balloon animals for children. When he spots Cheyenne, he tilts his head to the side, smiles, abandons the tots and rushes over to make something for his “new girlfriend.” The balloons soon form an engagement ring with a big purple heart on top. And as the line begins to move into the theater, the old guy follows along professing his love. Tara and I look at each other. This is how men in general are beginning to respond to our daughter, who at 14 looks 16 or 17. Inside the theater is the biggest screen I’ve seen shy of IMAX. I manage to stay awake through Harry Potter, something I couldn’t do during the first installment. That’s not a film-reviewing comment, just a statement of fact.
