Metaphysical Questions As a result of conversations with Richard, seminar participants, and some of the questions asked in letters and e-mail, I decided to ask Abenda to write about some of the primary questions that many people seem to be interested in. The first question comes from Richard. He constantly sees evidence of predestiny, but at the same time he would like there to be more free will in regard to major issues in people's lives. Q. To what degree are our major life experiences predestined? Is it the same for everyone or does the degree of destiny vary according with each individual according to the way they set up the incarnation upon returning to earth? A. Abenda: Everything you think, say and do has an element of predestination inherent in the action. Prior to your birth you met with a council of advisors and elders. Your life was mapped out according to the karma you decided to resolve (the needed learning) and the good karma you wanted to experience (rewards). Your dharma (duty to yourself and society) was factored in and, to use the analogy of a movie, you came to earth to experience the script -- you wrote and agreed to play out. Had you made every ideal choice, you would have experienced the movie exactly as it was scripted. But no one does that. Because you have free will, you can make a negative choice instead of a positive choice. Then the repercussions of each decision become a natural part of your movie. Everyone incarnates with their script in hand. The degree to which they stick to the script varies with each individual. Maybe a better analogy would be the video games your son Hunter enjoys. Each game begins with several specific characters. If Hunter makes every move correctly, he speeds through the game to the top level. But initially that's impossible. So when he makes a wrong move, he proceeds down an alternate path that will have an outcome. The game has several preprogrammed alternate directions for every decision he makes. Some decisions lead to more jeopardy than others. Some decisions get his character killed. But each time he plays the game, Hunter learns a little better how to meet the tests he confronts and eventually, he speeds through the game to the top level. This is very much how a soul scripts an Earth incarnation. If this can be so graphically demonstrated in a video game, is it difficult to imagine that your "game of life" could not be worked out with far more sophistication -- with living, breathing characters? Few souls know why they have come to earth. Yet within their lineage of experience lies the understanding, which can be perceived by anyone willing to do the inner work -- sometimes extensive inner work (meditation, regression, research). To truly live out your life experience, you must concentrate on the reality of Earth and bless the wonderment of what may be. But if you just focus on the ethereal side of existence, your life becomes ethereal and you may not fulfill your true physical purpose. Work, service to others, compassion, gaining knowledge, and finding love -- these are some of the gifts Earth life offers. They are also pathways for a soul to advance. But keep in mind that life on Earth is only a sub-life of your Real life. You will one day return to the place you came from. For many centuries, I have studied the effects on reincarnation upon earth lives. This is why the experimental relationship between Tara and I is so effective. Our current sharing was predetermined while Tara was on this side of the veil. Today, Tara can see and hear me. Few people are capable of this form of contact, but we have worked very hard to form this link so my messages can be easily perceived. If I were someone else's guide, I would give them messages in sleep and try to spark ideas intuitively. In times of trouble and pain, I would try to subconsciously provide comfort, instead of doing so directly as with Tara. Predestiny brings you fact-to-face with what you need to accomplish in this phase of existence. No matter what the situation, know that you choose the people, places and things to experience the happiness and sorrow that will lead you to wisdom. You will not always get what you "think" you want, because you may have made other decisions when scripting your film. On a soul level, you're on a quest that takes priority. Q. When someone uses self-hypnosis as with our tapes and CDs, are they rising above their karma or is there another explanation for any positive changes that occur? A. Abenda: Self-hypnosis can help you to realize that your inner-self is as important as your outer-self. To be beautiful on the inside is to be beautiful on the outside. Again, predestiny is a factor. You have chosen your path, but you always have the free will to enhance your walk down that path. In so doing, you can generate more positive karma. Making positive choices allows you to make faster progress in getting off the karmic wheel. Hypnosis is a tool to help you become more of who you really are. Through positive thinking and action, it can also assist you to get through undesirable karmic experiences. As an example, lack of money and security would be a karmic situation. It may be a person's karma to struggle, but if they erase the karma through wisdom (self-hypnosis might be one way to do that), they may be able to find the missing components for increased security. And often by mitigating a karmic wound, you give it a chance to heal. Then you can go on to further learning. A person may then open to guidance, which will lead to the next best path. The only problem I perceive with self-hypnosis is that some people use it as a place to hide -- a way to run away from their problems. Q. Can you talk about the concept of "past-life themes" -- the degree to which they affect our choices? A. Abenda: You continue to incarnate to live out a theme because you haven't yet learned all the lessons it offers. This is the karmic debit and credit system in action. Your past-life theme is a strong message from you to you about your present directions. Your theme, Richard, is "freedom." Many times in the past, you have physically fought for literal freedom. Today, your life centers around your communications about the need for freedom from the self. Because this is so important to you, all your decisions relate back to this theme. They are processed, so to speak, through this filter. As you learn to LIVE freedom from the self, on every level of your body and mind, you free yourself to move on. Be mindful and act with grace and mercy, ABENDA * * * * * NOTE FROM TARA: I don't know about you, but I'm intrigued with the idea of our Earth life being only a sub-life of our Real life.
