Clarity & Passion

During a fall radio interview on goal attainment, the host asked me, “What do you have to do to get what you want?”

“Have clarity and passion,” I replied.

“Go on,” he said.

This wasn’t my normal answer, so for a moment I discussed the importance of clarity of intent -- the need to know what you want, and to want it with no indecisiveness whatsoever. A subject I’ve often discussed in seminars and written about in books.

But while I was talking on clarity, another part of my mind was exploring passion?

“Why passion?” the host asked.

“Passion is a turbo-charger that accelerates manifestation. When you want something so bad you dwell upon it, fantasize and feel it in your gut, you’ll find a way to get it.”

“Didn’t Buddha say, ‘If you can find a man without passion, honor the man’?”

“You asked me how to get what you want, not how to attain nirvana,” I said. “Buddha was speaking of eliminating desire. If what you want is enlightenment, work on rising above your fear-based emotions, such as jealousy, envy, prejudice, hate, selfishness, blame, anger, greed ... and the fears of commitment, responsibility, intimacy, and all the other avoidance areas. Without fears you’d be enlightened, and no longer concerned with getting what you want.”

“But most religions and gurus advise the quelling of passion,” he said.

“Religions and gurus generate repression, not freedom. They primarily relate passion to sex. Maybe sex is so important, because there is so little passion in people’s lives. If you work all day at an unfulfilling job and spend the evening watching TV, you’re probably low on the passion scale. Without passion, life becomes dull, mundane, shallow. During sex, ideally, you attain passion to the point of abandoning self -- the goal of enlightenment.

“But we’re getting sidetracked,” I said. “I’m talking about a passionate state of mind -- an inquiring, searching, seeking mind. Passion is ‘aliveness’ -- the blood-pumping enthusiasm that makes you feel glad to be alive—that makes life worth living. And in regard to goal attainment, passion focuses your attention, so when combined with clarity, manifestation occurs.”

“Passion generates concentration? I guess I can’t argue with that,” he said. But let’s return to the idea of getting what you want? You have to be rational. Reality has a way of stifling attainment.”

“Albert Einstein said that he did not attain his incredible concepts through the use of his rational mind. When properly programmed, mind has an almost magical knack for rising above logical and rational blocks to attainment. The subconscious works nonstop, manipulating circumstances that will result in your inner desires manifesting in your outer life. The more passionately you want something, the more power you provide your mind.”

“And your hypnosis tapes help to properly program the mind?”

“They add high octane fuel to the passion turbo-charger,” I said and laughed.
