Insights & A Shocking Result

Insights & A Shocking Result
By Dick Sutphen

Deep in an altered state of consciousness, I could hear Tara’s voice far away saying, “As you watch from your position in the center of the medicine wheel, the Shaman points his medicine stick into the air and chants ever louder. Summoning the others -- the spirits of light -- the spirits of knowledge, and the spirits of Higher power.”

I tend to be visually-oriented, so this type of meditation becomes very real for me. But this is the first time I’ve listened to Tara’s new CD, “Insights: The Medicine Wheel.” Following her gentle induction, she’d instructed me to climb up to a mesa, where I met a medicine man, who gave me a ceremonial robe to wear. I was sitting with him for awhile in the center of a medicine wheel, when he jumped to his feet and began dancing and chanting ... increasing the vibrational atmosphere.

“They’re here,” Tara says, “They’ve come. The holy have come. The beloveds are with you. You sense it. You know it. They have come to impart knowledge. And as you stare ahead, three entities begin to manifest before your inner eyes. They come through the veil to stand before you.”

As often as I’ve done meditations, I was not ready for this experience. Three entities manifested as clearly as if I were meeting them for coffee in Starbucks. To my left, an oriental man in Samurai attire appeared. My Spirit Guide Neeta materialized in front of  me, and to my right, blustering into manifestation, came Robert the Bruce.

(Backstory: Robert the Bruce, King of Scots, is an ancestor through two maternal genetic lines. He fought the English and secured Scotland’s’ freedom. On my desk, I keep a silver statue of the Bruce in knight’s attire, astride his armored horse. In his hand is the battle ax he used to kill English knight Henry de Bohun in one-on-one combat on the eve of the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314. I’ve written much about the Bruce in my book, With Your Spirit Guide’s Help, and in Scotland web postings.)

I was not ready for Robert the Bruce, as I perceived him in Tara’s meditation. He was a big, rough, almost primitive man who looked me in the eye, lifted his two-handed claymore into the air and slammed the sword, point first, into the ground before me. The sword quivered as the Bruce placed his hands upon his hips leaned back and bellowed, “Hold your ground.”

Tara’s voice came back in: “These spirits bring you insights and knowledge about your path upon the earth. And each will give you a gift, which they are about to place on the ground before you. Observe their gifts.”

I assumed I already had my gift from the Bruce -- the quivering sword. Neeta opened her hands to reveal a crystal heart. The Samurai kneeled, took a small book from beneath the folds of his clothes, opened it and placed the volume upon the ground.

Tara: “It’s now time to ask these spirits their names, who they are, and what they represent to you. You can do this with ‘thought language.’ Simply think the questions and the spirits will project their answers into your returning thoughts.”

I knew Neeta. We have regular dialogues. I certainly didn’t need to ask the Bruce his name. He represented the archetypical hero, plus the bloodlines of ten Scottish kings I carry in my DNA. The Samurai offered his name and explained that he represented the Zen/Bushido aspect of my communications. The gift book consisted of Samurai sayings, which might provide me with inspiration.

Tara’s voice faded in again: “All right, it’s now time to ask specific questions about your life and the spirits before you will respond either with thought language, or they will give you a symbolic object, or they’ll provide a written message. You know this will be the most meaningful information you can receive. And it’s time for the first question, which relates to your dharma or service to the planet ...”

This is the beginning of about 15 key questions about your life. They vary from, “Am I doing the most I can with my life,” to “What karma do I bring to the lives of those I love?” to considering a problem and then asking, “How can I solve this problem?” At the end of the session, you’re given time to ask your own questions.

The Samurai provided very Zen advice with a edge. The Samurai were poets, artists, and swordsmen, and some of his answers gave me the feeling my fingers were running dangerously close to the edge of the blade. Neeta provided the same kind of loving advice I receive in my regular meditations with her. I had the impression that she was a buffer between the two men.

When it came to solving problems, Robert the Bruce provided “take no prisoners” advice. He would pluck the sword from the ground and then slam it back into the turf to make a verbal point. Life is simple. Deal directly with your problems and chop off the other guy’s head before he chops off yours. Whew! The Samurai advised not to enter into a conflict unless there is no other way. But if forced to act, act quickly and efficiently. Neeta provided loving advice about being an observer and giving up the need to control.

“Robert, this is not the 1300s,” I said.

“People don’t change!” the words slammed into my mind.

“Physical confrontations don’t work today.”

“Decisive action does,” said the Bruce.

“I can’t argue with that.”

Before ending the meditation, Tara had me give the three spirits a gift. Each is symbolic in it’s meaning. You also provide the Shaman with a gift.

Tara says, “After accepting your gift, the Shaman starts to chant. He looks to the sky and asks for glory, wisdom, beauty and love to be bestowed upon you. He asks that your path be clear and abundant. And as you get to your feet and raise your own hands to the sky, the winds again begin to swirl around you. And you thank the spirits for giving you the answers to your questions. You feel blessed to be upon the earth -- blessed to be in the medicine wheel. You bow to the four directions, North, East, South and West ... and then you hug the Shaman goodbye.”

Track 2 of Insights: The Medicine Wheel is sleep programming about blessings, releasing blocks, focusing inner strength, and manifesting prosperity.

NOTE: I did the meditation again a couple weeks later. This time a mountain man, Neeta and my deceased father came in to communicate with me.
