After the coldest Los Angeles winter in 123 years, it finally feels like spring in Malibu. Peaches are beginning to form on our trees, and we're tending to take long walks on the beach. For Richard's birthday we drove up the coast to Santa Barbara, where we spent the day riding bicycles built for four, shopping the pier and haunting local book and music stores. Dinner was at Richard's favorite restaurant, which features barbecue chicken and ribs cooked on a mesquite grill. |

To celebrate spring break, most revelers head to warm beaches. But for Hunter and Cheyenne's spring break, we left the beach and went to the mountains. Arriving in Lake Arrowhead on a sunny afternoon, we awakened the following morning to find ourselves snowbound. Even with a four-wheel drive vehicle there was no way to get out, because glaze ice was topped by deep snow. By the time the storm was over, several days later, we measured 18" on the decks. I'm reminded of one of my husband's favorite metaphysical sayings: "That which you resist, you draw to you." But I have to admit, being snowbound turned out to be fun. The children loved the snow. Richard read, wrote at his computer and in a notebook in front of the fireplace. I did a lot of psychic work and a new painting. Richard and my brother Jason have encouraged me to post some of my paintings. For special Christmas presents, I visually channeled the spirit guides of the young girls in our family and the children of close friends. Then I painted a picture of each girl's guide on the back of a Levi's denim jacket. |
