	Omens And Vortex Experiences Click HERE* to see pictures related to this column* Don Weldon, one of my earliest teachers, said, “Being in touch with spirit does not keep your car from breaking down, but if your car does breaks down it will probably be near a gas station.” I was reminded of this on October 27th, when Tara and I left Los Angeles early in the morning in heavy rain. We were driving two vehicles, because in Sedona we would personally escort ten people into the vortex areas. On the 134 Freeway, somewhere near Glendale, CA, Tara’s windshield wiper broke. The wiper managed to continue to clear a small space as the arm etched a deep scratch across the glass. Tara took the first freeway exit, and I followed as she pulled to the curb on a side street. I worked to fix the problem without success and removed the wiper unit. Tara looked at it, then dropped the wiper arm, which hit the glass, shooting a spiderweb of cracks up the windshield. My wife stood looking in disbelief at what she had done. “Let’s leave your Yukon, come with me and we’ll see if we can find a new wiper,” I said. The rain had lessened, but it was still pouring. “No, I’ll follow you. I’ll call you on your cell if I can’t see enough to drive safely,” she said. So we pulled ahead two blocks, turned left, and right into a gas station with an attached garage. While the mechanics installed new wipers, we had breakfast at the restaurant across the street. Back on the freeway to Phoenix/Scottsdale, my car threw up a rock and put a large ding in Tara’s already destroyed windshield. “What is the omen?” she wondered. “There must be something I’m not seeing.” I knew it was not Mercury Retrograde, but as the day progressed, it certainly seemed so. While in the backyard at a home far out in the Scottsdale desert, something crawled up my wife’s leg and bit her on the knee. We did not know what it was, but the bite hurt and remained hot for two days. That night after dinner at Los Olivos in Scottsdale, Tara and I were strolling around the Civic Plaza and Scottsdale Center for the Arts, just as a theater performance let out. Three feet from Tara, an elderly woman tripped on her high heels, and fell on her head. Tara screamed and tired to help her. People came running. The woman was taken away. I comforted my shaken wife who was muttering something about “bad omens.” This was also the night of a total lunar eclipse, which was observable in the night sky over the Center for the Arts building. Tara pointed out there had been four major astrological “events” in the month of October, and today and tomorrow there was a five-star pentagram formation in the sky. “Because this is all happening within 28 days, some people are calling it Harmonic Concordance II,” Tara said. “A Kabbalist says the universal karmic clock is sounding the alarm of transition. We will either choose to wake up and evolve into God-conscious beings or we will destroy ourselves.” For me, it was a long stretch from a broken windshield, bug bite and a fallen woman, to the end of the world. But I didn’t say so at the time. After days of rainstorms, we feared the weather would hamper our “10-Person Escorted Sedona Adventure” into the vortexes. But on Friday morning the sun was shining brightly. The weather, however, had scared off three participants, and a registered couple had gotten into a fight and canceled at the last minute. We were down to five, plus Kathy Watson who lives in Sedona, handles the setup for our seminars, and often accompanies us on these explorations. The small group did not matter to me, because there is little I enjoy more than exploring and meditating in the vortexes. But after climbing high up Bell Rock with four of the five participants, Merry fell, badly spraining a finger and cutting an inch-and-a-half gash in the side of her hand. I wanted to rush her to an emergency center in Sedona for stitches and to splint the finger. She would not hear of it. “You guys can heal me,” she said. Our group joined Tara, Kathy and Jessie, a medium from Lily Dale, NY. Seven of us surrounded Merry and I conducted an intense healing session in which we drew down the Blue Healing Ray and called up the power of the vortex below ... and we concentrated the energy in our hands, which we laid upon Merry. Upon releasing the energy, Merry cried out and shuddered all over. “Wow, that was incredible,” she said afterwards. “Not only does my hand not hurt, I just experienced by first full-body orgasm.” Merry refused to go to the emergency center. Back at the hotel, Ericka helped her bandage her hand. The following morning, one of our male participants had checked out of the hotel and left without a word. We still don’t know why. So we were down to four participants. On the bright side, Merry’s hand looked nearly healed, and she followed, Ericka, J.W. and myself up a difficult climb through “The Rebirthing Hole”-- a small opening just large enough to shimmy through in a cliff wall high in Boynton Canyon. On the other side you have access to much higher ground and the ruins of ancient Indian cliff dwellings. The climb was difficult and dangerous, and Merry was with us every step of the way. With so few participants, we had our evening meals together, attended a Halloween party and soaked in the hot tub. All in all, Tara and I agreed that it was not only the smallest gig we have ever conducted, but it was also the most fun. Tara is still trying to figure out all the omens.
