The MBS Festival & Stonehenge The American contingent appearing at the Mind Body Spirit Festival in London, England last week included healer Patti Conklin, hypnotherapist/author Shelly Stockwell, author Dan Millman and myself, among others. Patti appeared at the festival early in the week so when we met up she was about to leave to conduct a seminar in Ireland. On the day I arrived in London, I was scheduled to do a 10:30 PM (6 AM my time) BBC radio show to talk about my metaphysical workshops at the festival. During a commercial break, a few minutes into the interview, the show hostess informed me, “I was really prepared not to like you, but as it turns out I like you a lot.” I wanted to thank her for sharing but decided against it. As soon as she invited listeners to call in, I realized this was not a metaphysical talk show. The first caller claimed that as he spoke he was being bombarded with strange beams of light and was on lying on his back on the floor. “In a minute,” he said, “I’m going to get my gun and go shoot my neighbor.” The hostess pulled the fader to zero and punched a button allowing someone new to ask a question that had nothing to do with the subject we were discussing. About this time, I wondered why I had agreed to go without sleep to do this show. I couldn’t have been convincing anyone to attend the MBS Festival. Oh well. I was scheduled to be on the air for 30 minuets, but the hostess, who now liked me a lot, asked me to stay another half hour, which I did. Saturday, at the festival I conducted a four-hour workshop on “Spirit-Contact Therapy,” and Monday (A UK Bank Holiday, which is a holiday that doesn’t celebrate anything in particular.) I conducted a four-hour “Shift” Seminar. The shift drew over twice the attendance of spirit-contact therapy. Tuesday I journeyed with hypnotherapist Kathleen Shannon and a dozen others to Stonehenge for a private viewing. Kathleen had been asking for a “most benevolent weather outcome” and after many days of rain, the sun was shining brightly as we left London for the two-hour trip to the Salisbury Plains. I thanked her for having such influential angels. We arrived at Stonehenge at 6:15 PM, after the site was closed to the public. The general public normally must remain beyond ropes about fifty feet from the stones. Before releasing our group at 6:30 PM, the Stonehenge guard said, “You have until 7 PM. You can kiss the stones, touch the stones, but you cannot climb upon the stones. If you do, you’ll be warned once, and the second time you’ll be escorted away.” Touching the stones for the first time was a thrill. Many are covered with dried lichen, that feels like rough fur. I was surprised at the number of ravens (keepers of the soul) that make their home here. From their perches atop the stones, the birds watched our every move. Between one of the horizontal stones, topping two vertical stones, a circular hole housed a nest. The cries of newly hatched birds, amplified by their conical hideaway, could be heard 50 yards away. I decided to do psychometry -- touching the stones and opening to psychic impressions. I was wearing a thick turtleneck sweater, plus a hooded sweatshirt, plus a waterproof sailing jacket ... and I was still cold. The stones were freezing to the touch. I closed my eyes and did some quick hypnosis to warm myself up. Visual impressions soon began to flood in: a group huddled around a roaring bonfire, a processional of hooded figures filing into the sacred site, pilgrims performing rituals. The images seemed almost expected. Too common. But what did I expect? I had talked with Kathleen about conducting a past-life regression, so with only 15 minutes remaining, she huddled against one of the tallest stones, while I sat on the ground beside her and induced an altered state of consciousness. In a deep trance, I instructed her to regress back into the past and view historic occurrences at Stonehenge. After the session, she told me that she too had visualized huddled figures around a bonfire, but went on to explain, “I was perceiving two periods of time, simultaneously. In addition to bonfire images, I saw an inner circle of naked people holding hands, moving clockwise, and an outer circle of chanting, swaying hooded figures. It felt joyous, rejoicing under the stars, in tune with nature and the Goddess. “Then I began to see people in 1800s attire gathering to enjoy the summer-solstice sun. It was a large gathering, fun and frivolous more than religious or worshipful. The women laid out blankets with food and wine. Some people played instruments and were singing and dancing. It was a big party.” Thirty minutes was not enough time to experience the stones or to try to understand the astrological alignment that takes place on each equinox and solstice. But it was a joyful experience and neither Kathleen or I experienced any negativity associated with the stones.
