Destiny & War  

I talk about mind being the only refuge from the chaos of life, in my editorial in the current issue of “Soaring Spirit.” The way we view things creates a cyclone, and the way we view things can keep us in the calm center of the cyclone.

For a moment, consider your view of destiny. If what is happening in our world is destined to be, does it make it any easier to accept? If the current conditions were predestined, then you and I and the rest of this planet are embarking upon a test we decided to take.

In hypnosis, in future projection sessions, “a changed New York skyline” was the primary vision perceived by the hundreds of people who attended my 1997-98 “New Day” workshops and seminars. This was also true of those who participated in a taped “Millennium Projection Research Project.” The psychic projections were reported in a 1998 issue of “Soaring Spirit.”

So, was the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center a predestined event?

Michael Drosnin, author of “The Bible Code” and “Bible Code II The Countdown” thinks so. An Israeli mathematician named Dr. Eliyahu Rips broke a code in the 3000-year old Bible and presented his work in a major science journal. The code was confirmed by mathematicians around the world, including a senior code-breaker at the top secret US National Security Agency. Upon hearing about the code, Drosnin, a former reporter for the Wall Street Journal and Washington Post began a five-year investigation. The code predicted both Kennedy assassinations, the Oklahoma City bombing, the moon landing and everything from World War II to Watergate, from the Holocaust to Hiroshima ... and the election of George W. Bush.

Drosnin discovered in the Bible code the predicted assassination of Yitzhak Rabin. He personally warned the Prime Minister of the conditions surrounding the slaying. The warning was disregarded and the assassination happened, as predicted, when predicted.

On September 11, 2001, Drosnin was awakened by the sound of the first Jumbo Jet exploding into the World Trade Center. He ran up to the roof of his Lower Manhattan apartment building just in time to see the second plane fly into the second tower. He watched as the towers collapsed.

“I ran down from the roof and immediately searched the ancient code on my computer, the Bible code. It was the one place I might find confirmation of the full danger, and a revelation what was yet to come,” Drosnin said.

He quickly found that “twin towers” was encoded by the word “airplane.” Crossing those words in the text was the message, “It caused to fall, knocked down.“ Coded words from 3000 years before.  The author also discovered related encryption including, “Sin, crime of Bin Laden,” “They saw smoke rising above the land like the smoke of a furnace,” “Terrorist Atta,” and “Egyptian man.”

Mohammed Atta was the pilot of the first plane to hit the towers.

You can’t give Nostradamus a perfect score for accuracy in regard to contemporary events, but he did predict fire coming out of the sky (jet engines?) and the sky burning in the great new city at 45-degree latitude (NYC is close to 45 degrees). He wrote of the garden of the world being near the new city, “in the path of the hollow mountains” (the twin towers?). Maybe 445 years earlier, the great astrological seer perceived our present.

More than one astrologer has told me, “We live our lives day to day as if we had choices. We choose to do this or do that, while all the time, the outcome has already been determined. Fate will intervene to assure we end up where we are destined to be, doing what we’re destined to be doing, with who we’re destined to be with.”

Often the process is more important than the outcome.

Any discussion of destiny brings us to “free will.” I think we have total free will, and we exercised it in spirit prior to birth. We decided to sign on to experience exactly what we’re experiencing today and what we will experience tomorrow. And from another perspective, although we predestined major experiences, our reactions to those experiences allow free will. Our responses are the test.

My wife Tara’s response to the war drums was to focus her energy upon creating a “Destiny of Peace Video Meditation.” Some people are marching in peace rallies, some are joining the armed services.

I cannot fully accept that the future of our planet is divinely ordained. I want to factor in free will. And I will continue to live my life as if I am a force for positive change, although that too may have been predestined. I do know that no matter how chaotic life becomes, we can invoke a harmonious viewpoint and use meditation to retreat into the calm center of the cyclone.

A reporter once asked Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, “How does the world look in the highest state of consciousness?”

“You see that everything is exactly as it should be,” said Maharishi.

The reporter hesitated before asking, “But why then, are you working so hard to improve the situation?”

Maharishi smiled. “Because that is exactly as it should be.”
